Teething and Swimming

Let's see.... how to sum up the last couple of weeks? Here goes: Lyv decides she hates rice cereal, so we try oatmeal cereal and it's a big hit. Lyv is teething and has had an awful week filled with tears and crying over the whole issue. We took Lyv swimming for the first time this last weekend and she seemed to enjoy it. (How cute is she in her swimsuit?!) Lyv enjoys being read to, and is also close to being able to sit on her own. But really, the teething thing... seriously.... all consuming of our lives right now! It's dreadful stuff.

Also, I have a TON of videos on my youtube account... including swimming and eating videos. Check them out by following the link on the right to "My Videos".

Happy Girl... most of the time...

Still working on the whole schedule thing with Lyv. As long as she gets good sleep, she tends to be a happy girl. If not, then it's Fussy City all day. Here are some of her better moments from this month:

5 months old

Lyv is 5 months old today! I can't believe that so much time has passed already. She has been sick this last week... her first illness! The poor little thing has had congestion and coughing most likely caused by a virus.... and an ear infection as well! She seems to be over the worst of it though, but both Daniel and I are sick now too! Perhaps we all caught something on our plane ride last Saturday.

Earlier this week I worked on a project for Lyv's room. It's a coat/hat rack for all her little hats and jackets. I started with an unfinished rack from Hobby Lobby and this is the final result:

The flowers are silk flowers I bought and pulled apart so they are actually raised off of the wood. Then I glued them on and sealed over them with a clear glaze so they wouldn't get snagged and yanked off. I also added the little beads for the finishing touch. I love how it turned out and I need to take time to do more projects like this because I always get so much enjoyment from it!

Lyv has been working on becoming mobile. She's kind of like an inch worm at this point. She will lift her body up as high as she can with her arms, then collapse down quickly,... rocking ever so slightly forward in the process, and then she will start again. It's like that dance move, "The Worm",.... it's quite humorous. But she will only gain a couple of inches after several attempts... so I can hardly call her mobile at this point. She can easily lift her upper body off the floor with her arms, and is working on getting her pelvis up too. Occasionally she can accomplish both simultaneously for about 1 second and then she collapses.

Happy New Year!

In December we made another trip to Texas to visit my family. Lyv got to meet some more cousins... Becca, Izzy, and Little Mike. Little Mike is just 9 days younger than Lyv, so it was fun to see them side by side. Here's a pic of Abigail, Little Mike, Becca, Lyv, and Izzy:

Here's a pic of just Lyv and Little Mike:

And just for kicks, here's a pic of Lyv's other cousin (on the Clymer side), Clara. Clara is about 3 weeks younger than Lyv and this photo was taken in mid-December when we flew out to Pennsylvania. Clara's mom, Rachel, just happened to have matching outfits that we put the girls in.... too cute!
The other big event was on New Year's Eve when we gave Lyv her first rice cereal feeding. She loved it immediately and as soon as she took the first bite, she helped it down by sucking on her thumb. She quickly developed a habit of taking a spoonful, then taking her thumb, then taking a spoonful, then taking her thumb, etc.
