Guest Bathroom Counter
Well, we finally installed the new granite countertop and sink into the guest bathroom this last week. I also replaced the mirror and added hardware to the cabinet doors. Check out the before and after:

Surgery!
Due to a cancellation at my neurosurgeon's office, I was able to move my consult up to today. I met with him and he thinks that I have what is called a Rathke's cleft cyst, which is not technically a tumor.
Assuming that's what I have, it means that there are mucus producing cells in my pituitary that are not supposed to be there. They have been there since I was formed in utero, and probably have been producing a little mucus cyst my whole life, which has been growing at a glacial pace. At this point it has gotten big enough to put outward pressure on the small membrane surrounding the pituitary, resulting in my constant headache!
Now there's still a possibility that what I have is a benign tumor, but the treatment is the same for either: surgery. Now I could wait 6 months to re-MRI the thing to see if it's getting bigger and in the meantime continue to deal with a constant headache, but I've opted instead for surgery as soon as possible.
I've got a surgery date set for July 8th. This means that in the meantime I am open for business, but during the months of July and August, I will be out of commission. If you're wanting any portraits done this summer, best to do it soon! (Keep in mind that proof sessions are held 7-10 days after the shoot)
It's so nice to have a surgery date set. I feel like I can make plans again!

Endocrinologist....
Met with the endocrinologist today. After looking at my MRI and how much that little tumor is pushing against my optic nerves, he said he would be very surprised if the neurosurgeon DIDN'T want to do surgery to remove it.
So now we have to wait this week for a call from the neurosurgeon's scheduler so we can meet with him. The good news is that he is very good at this kind of surgery. He performs hundreds every year and is one of a few in the country who is a specialist in this type of procedure. The bad news is that there is more waiting. If we're lucky, we will get a call within a week to set up a consult with the neurosurgeon. However, we've been told his schedule is booked out the next couple of months. That's just to meet him. Never mind the actual surgery. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll be an earlier opening. Let's hope! I'll keep you posted!

Nieces make everything better!
Despite my horrific week dealing with medical problems, tests, and hospitalization for several days, one good thing came of it all:
My sister and niece flew out from Raleigh to stay with us for several days. They arrived after I was out of the hospital and when I was feeling a lot better. Seeing my little 9 month old niece was a good distraction for me from all the anxiety that has been weighing on me as of late. She is such a happy little girl and loved to give me sweet smiles. They have since gone back to Raleigh, but here are a few pictures from their visit:

And here are a couple of shots from her official shoot in my studio:
