Headaches

Last week I dealt with daily headaches that felt upwards of 9's on a scale of 1-10. They were pretty awful. Most mornings I would wake up with a throbbing headache and I would make my special ice pack for my head (a mid sized towel rolled up around 3 ziplock bags filled with ice, then wrapped around my head and cinched in place with two chip clips). I would usually keep the ice pack on for a few hours until the pain subsided down to a 7. Not a comfortable level for the headache, but better than a 9. Although the last two days I have had some headache relief (only getting up to a 5 or so), I got another bad headache this evening.

My new theory is that there is something or multiple things that I am eating that is triggering the headaches. I have a suspicion that it may be nitrates in deli meat. After doing research, I also found that pickles contain nitrates! I did not know that... and I have been indulging on pickles lately. :-( So no more pickles, deli meat, bacon, or other processed meats for me! Hopefully I will see some results. If not, I'm going to have to try something else.

Kiki

Have any of you seen this picture or the video around it? This little Haitian boy named Kiki, along with sister, were pulled out of the rubble after 8 days of being trapped. Upon lifting him free, he beamed a big smile to the crowd and stretched out his arms wide while the crowd erupted in cheers. What a beautiful image!

We won!!!

Daniel and I just went to his office holiday party. There were about 75-100 people there and they had a number of prizes to be won during the evening. Everyone was given 5 tickets upon entering the door. You could choose to keep your tickets and enter them all in a raffle for one of 3 BIG prizes (ipod touch, wii, or GPS). Or you could play your tickets at any number of black jack, poker, or craps tables in hopes of winning more tickets for the raffles. We played black jack and poker both and ending up breaking even, so we put all 10 of our tickets in for the ipod touch. Well...... guess who won?!!! ME!!! I couldn't believe it. It was the big prize of the night, and that was what most people were going for with their tickets. I was SO excited! We have been wanting an ipod for a while,.... and this is the ipod touch 32gb! Holy smokes!

In addition, Daniel won one of the various door prizes that were given out..... which were tickets to an AV's game in February (for you out of staters, that would be the Colorado Avalanche..... our local professional hockey team). The tickets are valued at $48 each.... so I would say overall we made out pretty well! That was the best office party ever!

Who knew?

Who knew that pregnancy would have so many woes? I mean... yes, I knew! But, I thought: morning sickness for a few weeks during the first trimester. Swollen feet and achy back during the third trimester. Lately, I just feel crummy all the time. Like I'm sick. But I'm not. I haven't thrown up... haven't gotten nauseous. I just feel bleh. I'm never hungry at all either. I've had the best intentions of loading up on nutrient rich foods such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. But I am NEVER hungry. I have to force food down when it comes to mealtimes. Normally, I love to eat, and love to have an excuse to eat. But not so much lately. And cramps almost all the time! Nobody warned me about that one! I thought I would get a 9 month reprieve of cramps during pregnancy, not a 9 month onslaught of cramps! Yikes. And all this when I'm not even showing yet. At least when I get a little belly it'll start to feel like it's worth it, you know?
